In our opinion this has to be the ultimate stonefly, the Kaufmann's Stone Black with Rubber Legs & Bead Head, this fly is fully loaded and is one of the most irresistible fly pattern of all time. You cannot have too many of these in your fly box, and yes you will loose a few when you get snapped off with a trophy Steelhead or Rainbow. Fish just devour this patter, I don't know if its the rubber legs that generates that extra bit of movement, but whatever it is the Kaufmann's Black Stonefly with Rubber Legs & Bead Head is a all time favorite with all our customers throughout the US and Canada. Black Kaufmanns Stonefly with rubber legs. Imitates the Salmonfly nymph (Pteronarcys californica) One of my personal favorites and I really like the rubber leg variety. The Kaufmanns Stonefly nymph is one of the most deadly fly and float fishermen patterns. Productive in most rivers and lakes across Canada and the US. I have fished these nymphs in a variety of colors on most of the Great Lakes tribs including the Maitland, Nine Mile and Bayfield. This fly will catch just about every species that swims including Bass & Carp but for Steelhead it is just incredible. Kaufmanns Rubber Leg Stones should be fished close to the bottom so you will loose a few so stock up on these incredible imitations, you just won't regret it.
